We see the news reports and videos of college students partying on beaches during the pandemic, playing pickup basketball, etc. We don’t see many articles about college students and young people taking the situation seriously. The linked article below is an inspiring read from an MD student class of 2023.
Hopefully this becomes the majority view. That will be better for all people of our country and the world. This virus doesn’t care about your age, gender, race, orientation, or pre-existing condition.
Please adhere to the social distancing guidelines. Doing so allows time for healthcare systems to prepare and for universities and corporations to develop tests, treatments, and vaccines. Things can gradually get back to normal once those four pillars (healthcare system, tests, treatments, and vaccines) are solid.
Allow me to end with a quote from the Tao Teh Ching verse 64:
“In handling affairs, people often spoil them just at the point of success.
With heedfulmess at the beginning and patience at the end, nothing will be spoiled.”
